how it works
An application, not a contract.
Joining TechDashers starts with an application, not a contract. We review your experience, talk with you on a short phone interview, ask you to pass a monitored technical assessment, and run a background screening that we pay for. Only applicants who clear those steps are invited to accept the Independent Contractor Agreement and begin taking work.

Apply online
Share your legal name, contact information, and a clear account of your IT background. Include certifications, a degree, or other proof of hands-on experience. Applications are open to adults 18 and older.

A quick phone interview
If your application moves forward, we email you a link to book a 15-minute phone call. We talk about your experience, the kind of work you enjoy, and your service area, and answer your questions.

Pass the technical assessment
Next is an online IT assessment covering hardware, operating systems, networking, and troubleshooting. You take it on a desktop or laptop with a webcam. It is monitored: we take photos of your webcam and your screen at intervals (no audio is recorded and no facial recognition is used), you work alone, and no outside help is allowed. A passing result is required before any TechDash can be offered to you.

Clear a background check
We send you a background screening invitation through Checkr and cover the cost. A government-issued photo ID is part of this review. We keep the outcome as a status used to decide access. It is not published on a public profile.

Approved: set up your account
Approval is a separate decision. If we approve you, we set up your TechDashers app account and email you a link to set your password. In the app you review and accept the Independent Contractor Agreement, together with the Platform Terms of Service, Acceptable Use Policy, and Privacy Policy. You also complete Stripe Connect so we can pay you (Stripe collects tax identity and bank details; TechDashers does not store your Social Security number) and upload proof of your own General Liability policy. TechDashers usage-based coverage is coming soon.

What we ask of every applicant.
These are the qualifications in our Terms, Acceptable Use Policy, and Privacy Policy. Meeting them lets us review you. It does not by itself approve you.

You can show a valid government-issued photo ID, such as a driver license. We do not accept accounts for anyone under 18.

Skill you can document
Certifications, a degree, or verified experience. No single vendor badge is required. The documents you upload stay in restricted review, not on a public listing.

Accurate information
Use your own identity. The Acceptable Use Policy does not allow a false name, false credentials, or an account opened for someone else.

A review you must pass
The phone interview, the technical assessment, and the background check all have to clear before we offer the contractor agreement or unlock work.

Liability insurance
Required before you work on a client’s technology, remote or on-site: your own business liability policy with general liability, errors and omissions, and cyber coverage (the limits are in the contractor agreement). No policy yet? Apply anyway: we’ll recommend coverage, usually about $20–40 a month.

You provide professional tools, a phone, and a data connection. Fuel, vehicle costs, and equipment are not reimbursed.

After approval, Stripe Connect must be completed in your name before you can claim jobs. You are responsible for your own taxes. We issue Form 1099-NEC when required.
on-site support
On-site requirements.
Remote support and a visit to a client’s door both require liability insurance for the work. Only on-site visits also require automobile insurance.
Automobile insurance, before the first visit
Any vehicle you use to travel to an on-site TechDash, perform it, and return must carry current automobile liability insurance that meets or exceeds Florida’s legal minimums. Personal or commercial coverage qualifies. You upload proof, and we verify it, before you can accept an on-site dispatch.
If that proof, or another required credential, expires, on-site visits pause until you upload a current document. Usage-based coverage (coming soon) will not replace the automobile policy required for on-site visits.
While you are available for a visit, the app uses your location to match nearby clients. Turning location off in your phone stops on-site matching. On a visit, you present your TechDashers digital ID badge and you do not leave a client’s equipment unattended in a vehicle.

How you get paid.
You work as an independent contractor, not as an employee. You choose which requests to accept. We do not promise a set number of jobs.
For each completed TechDash you receive 80 percent of the eligible service amount. Tips are yours in full. Parts sold through the platform are sold by TechDashers, not by you. After you close a job, payment waits 48 hours so the client can raise a concern in the app. If none is filed, the amount is released to Stripe, which pays out on its schedule, currently each Friday.
You handle client equipment with care, and you do not keep copies of their files or passwords beyond what that repair requires. Work that starts on TechDashers is booked, documented, and paid in the app.
